shelley socolofsky's work employs traditional textile strategies of accumulation. interested in the concept of textiles and textile production in the expanded field, she weaves cloth on both frame and jacquard looms, and creates sculpture, drawings and installations illustrating her interest in the charting of toil and labor, luxury and excess, and the temporal.
shelley received her m.f.a. in textiles in 2008 and teaches as an adjunct in textiles at the University of Oregon. past research included tapestry weaving in france and jacquard weaving in italy. recent solo and group exhibitions include the bellevue art museum of seattle, the oregon state capitol building, craft alliance of st. louis, the museum of contemporary crafts in portland, and the san jose museum of quilts and textiles. a recipient of a national endowment for the arts fellowship, recent published articles featuring her work are included in Artist magazine of taiwan and Fiberarts magazine.
